Academented Christmas, day the first – working companions

“Ringing in” December in the office at this hour. The PhD student (henceforth mentioned as “the PhD” unless otherwise stated) insists that they do not need a large screen at home, meaning to motivate more hours in the office as large, easily “splittable” screens lend themselves better to translation work. Clearly, translation work is also better done with Sherlock and Paddington in tow… alongside some German grammar. However, the PhD’s translation work does not feature German as source or target language; German is merely a folly* to the PhD’s never-ending… “enthusiasm”, to learn new things.

Sherly and Paddy.

*except when it just takes away time from the translation at hand.
