Food Diary – June 23, 2011 – …and slideshows on WordPress

Does anybody have any experience of putting slideshows on these blogs? Advice would be appreciates, thank you.

So, I got up at 0615 hours to go running, and was greeted by Elton John’s “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” on BBC Radio 2, by way of clock radio. What a way to start the day.

snack23

Might as well admit that I snuck half a dessert-bun last night. Too hungry!

Then there was another half left.

snack23b

So I ate it before the run.

After the run there was breakfast.

breakfast23

Fruit'n'fibre cereal with semi-skimmed milk.

Photographed everything together again, but what is in that sandwich?

food23

Banana, nectarine, triple-decker sandwich.

Any office worker should know what comes next.

drink23

Coffeeh.

After which there was actually lunch!

lunch23

Triple-decker sandwich of cheese, ham and coleslaw on white bread. Ooh, aah. And a giant, soft, chocolate cookie.

Thus, the snack fest started.

snack23c

More coffeeh, and a dark chocolate digestive.

and

snack23d

Doritos (original).

and

dinner23

Oh look, I ate dinner. A plain tortilla and a portion of that pork and apple (and yellow pepper and black eyed bean and seasoning) stew.

and

snack23e

Skinny triple chocolate brownie ice cream.

and finally

drink23

Pre-bed milk.

with water count ~1.75l, from what I gather. It has been an 18 hour day, so I shall not try to make more bad quips. For now.

Food Diary – June 9, 2011

Does anybody consume protein powder? Is it “good” (however we can classify that)? Is it only for those who wish to build muscle or is it generally good to drink after exercise? Or am I okay with yoghurt and/or eggs? Thankful for answers.

Had to get up really early this day, and was hungrier than usual. Is this because I had to replenish the energy I did NOT get via sleep?

breakfast09

Coffee and two slices of seeded, margarine-d toast.

The following has become a regular mid-morning snack.

snack09

Liquorice and fruit gums.

This too, but not for much longer.

snack09b

The last slice of white chocolate and raspberry cake!

Thrown-together lunch. I need to start planning my meals.

lunch09

Couscous, peas, chilli beans, fish fingers and sweet chilli sauce.

Mid-afternoon coffee break.

drink09

Earl Grey.

Also known as “fika” in Swedish.

snack09c

What it says on the 'tin'.

Thrown-together dinner. I really did not want to cook today.

dinner09

Eggy wholewheat pasta with chilli beans, basil, and slightly too much paprika.

Water count ~1.5l. Back on track.

In other news. I have writer’s block on my other blog. Anybody have good advice about that? Thankful, as always, for answers. (That should be my lifetime signature.)

Food Diary – June 8, 2011

breakfast08

Mug of coffee; two wheat biscuits with lots of Greek yoghurt and a liberal drizzle of golden syrup.

As you can tell – I have fallen a little bit behind, so we will jump straight in with pictures.

snack08

Post-exercise banana.

I seem to consume more junk after running, as though it is an excuse. Need to stop.

snack08b

Liquorice and fruit gums. (I have nearly finished them, do not despair.)

My “old food” issues seem now to have shifted from fruit to eggs. Creativity (sense the irony) ensues.

lunch08

Margerine-d seeded toast, friend egg. Two of each.

New fruit!

lunch08b

Nectarine.

I swear I have become re-addicted to cake.

snack08c

Mug of tea and slice of cake. I could get used to this.

More junk.

snack08d

I said Nearly finished.

I appear to have taken up the eat little and often approach. Did I use to do this in November?

dinner08

Cajun spiced sausages, broccoli, ketchup.

Water count: ~1.2l. I thought about posting as soon I had taken each picture, to give myself a better impression of when I eat what I eat, but I think one “picspam” a day is enough. To save all of YOU.

Addendum. Forgot about this.

snack

Nostalgia.

Home-baked bread and home-grown vegetables 4

Resurrection! Although perhaps a few days later than Christian tradition. A tiny green crop has sprouted from the centred of the wilted leaves of the tomato plant. I am uncertain of the reasons why. Perhaps it is because of a shift in weather; it was previously often undecided, but now it either rains properly or is nice and sunny. With regular intervals too. I have kept my makeshift crop protector made out of clingfilm on the pot just in case.

I am quite amazed, and will do my best to help it grow further.

That is all I have time for for now. Picture of the adventure will be uploaded shortly.

Home-baked bread and home-grown vegetables 2

The plants look a little bit wilted. Yesterday they were still growing nicely. Is this what the new British government will bring us? Okay, I shall not take it out completely on politics; I planted the crops outside during a nice warm spell around a week ago, and last night we had sudden chill. It may be time to buy seeds and clear out the greenhouse to provide a certain, warm climate for the vegetables.

Rather devastated, but determined to try a rescue mission. The cucumber, which is planted in the ground, I will put an upside-down de-topped 2 litre bottle on top; and I shall cling film the top of the pot holding the tomato. At least it is lovely and sunny today. Hopefully there will be some progress later!
